Recycling Wrapping Paper

It's my party and I'll recycle if I want to

Can i recycle wrapping paper?

In most case it can be recycled along with your other paper and collected curbside. Alternatively it can be deposited in a paper bank.

Some wrapping paper however cannot be recycled. This is because:

  • It is very thin paper and doesn’t contain enough good quality fibres to be recycled.
  • It may contain sticky tape, which cannot be recycled.
  • It could be dyed and contain additives e.g. glitter or plastics which cannot be recycled.

How can i help?

  • Use wrapping paper that has been made from recycled paper and that can be either recycled again or composted
  • Use string and wool for wrapping presents instead of sticky tape.
