No, your local recycling centre will not collect video cassettes, neither should you leave them out to be collected by your local authorities. Video cassettes have an outer casing which is made from plastic and whilst this plastic is recyclable the inner tape is not. Specialist services to recycle these tapes did exist but they are getting increasingly hard to find.
Donate them.
- Unwanted video cassettes to charity shops – most shops now will not take them but there may be some demand for some of the classics!
- Some commercial organisations will recycle old VHS cassettes.
