Tesco ‘touch up’ On Their Green Side with Touch Screens
Touch screen monitors were installed in nine stores to pilot the programme and the results proved to be successful. The monitors were placed in various sections of the store in an aim to determine where the most energy is used so action can be taken to reduce it.
The success of the pilot scheme means that Tesco will now be introducing it to 500 of its stores throughout the country, and have recently won an award for innovative energy savings.
The first store to participate in the scheme was the Portsmouth store and the results showed that the Petrol station was consuming the most energy, allowing staff to now take measures in their carbon emission reduction.
The overall summary of the pilot scheme in the nine stores showed that energy consumption had decreased by three percent since the touch screen scheme had been put in place.
