Package Conscious Consumers
New research undertaken by the IGD reveals that there is much more of an active interest being taken by supermarket shoppers than ever before. Almost 40% of us are conscious about the packaging of our groceries.
The results of the research also tells us that 55% of supermarket shoppers wish to receive more information on the environmental issues that are impacted on as a result of grocery packaging
Research earlier this year suggested that 37% of consumers believe that re-sealable packaging for our groceries would definitely mean less food wastage. This is an 8% increase on results from 2007.
The chief executive of IGD quotes “Shoppers are concerned about the environmental impact of food packaging. Awareness of sustainability, recycling and renewable energy has gained momentum and shoppers want to see the food and grocery industry responding to their concerns.”
