GHD Straighten Out Fines

The  leading hair care brand GHD, have been charged £9,626 in fines after the Environment Agency uncovered waste packaging charges had not been paid. The company claim they were unaware of these legal obligations.

The company behind the GHD brand Jemella Ltd, were charged with seven different waste offences of which they pleaded guilty. The company had failed to register itself with the Environment Agency as a producer of waste packaging from 2004 to 2006, avoiding fees of £4,400. The company did however register itself in 2007 as soon as they became aware of these regulations.

The defence lawyer f the company quotes that Jemella has been “shocked and disappointed” over this discovery as they feel they were left completely in the dark about these regulations and always took their recycling duties very seriously.
